When I was a kid I dreamed of building a tree house in one of our backyard cedar trees. Now it seems dreams of building a tree house have taken on a whole new urban reality. The Bosco Verticale is a pair of residential towers being constructed in central Milan. It translates into “vertical forests”. Full-sized trees and shrubs will scale the sides of the buildings – some would call it Chia-petting to the extreme.
From a lumber trader’s perspective it might seem inevitable that the tenth floor of these buildings could sprout portable sawmills.. and listen to strata council howls when clear cutting gets underway on the penthouse.
