While on a week’s vacation with family to Osoyoos last week, any lumber market musings seemingly upstaged by our ‘moose’ encounter near Manning Park were overshadowed by destructive forces of nature in the real world. Full realization of the devastation caused by Alberta floods is just beginning to be measured this week as families and businesses return home to clean up and measure the cost. As Canada Day weekend offered up celebration and sunshine locally, the horrific news of the 19 elite firefighters killed battling Arizona wildfire is a stark reminder of the dangers associated with fighting fires in the woods. While the Forest Fire Danger Ratings in most areas of B.C. are still rated moderate to low, a period of drier weather can be expected to raise concerns and notice for taking extra precaution in the woods. Presently there are no wildfires reported in the province.
what a shot!!!
