If the grand unveiling of the state of the art, retractable roof at BC Place had a forestry theme to it, it was mostly the fact the Portland Timbers whipped the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 yesterday.  We were there to join the sellout soccer crowd in gawking at the giant video screen that, we’re told is only outdone by the size of the one in Texas (but then what isn’t).  Nonetheless, BC Place Stadium drew rave reviews this opening weekend.  Now all we hope for is a product on the soccer pitch to match the quality of the playpen itself.
