It’s true that West Coast summers are always spectacular. As the Choices Market July Newsletter says: “There is something especially spectacular about the West Coast gold standard meal of just-caught salmon, new potatoes, fresh corn, and same-day picked berries.” I happen to know that my Mom just completed her annual ritual of converting freshly picked Fraser Valley berries into delicious strawberry and raspberry jams.
At the same time, an interesting article on Plant Power in the newsletter can’t help but draw some summertime interest away from chopping trees in favor of clear-cutting lettuce. It plugs into vegan diets that have exploded in popularity in the last couple of years. Even so, my choice still involves prepping a beach barbecue for a taste of that salmon!
