The MSR Producers Council, in their March 2011 Newsletter “MSR Council Matters,” published results of their Annual Production Survey. The Annual Production Survey is the only one of its kind to track MSR lumber production by species, grade, and size. The survey responses for 2010 were from 28 MSR producers in the U.S. and Canada.
I found it interesting to see that MSR production (probably like all other grades) is down in recent years. After peaking in 2005, overall production declined, hitting a low point in 2009. In 2010, Douglas Fir-Larch and Southern Yellow Pine production increased, while SPF and Hem-Fir remained virtually unchanged.
